A snowy landscape. The sky is the dark blue of early morning or evening. On the left side of the painting is a blurry suggestion of snow covered trees. On the right side is the dark outline of a house with snow on the roof. The house has two dark, arched windows. In the leftmost window is a single burning candle. Looming behind the candle is a large, shadowy silhouette with two dim gray eyes. In the sky, hovering around the house, are three white shapes that look vaguely like comets, except that they are clearly moving independently and of their own volition. They look almost as though they are trying to find a way into the house.
