A portrait of a man. The portrait is roughly divided into two styles: the left side is more painterly, while the right side is a bitmap composed of pixels. The man has slightly wild black hair, glasses, and a mustache, and is smiling. The overall composition is mixed-media on a gray background, with tinges of rainbow colors and colored pixels placed throughout the painting. The person depicted is Apple designer and engineer Bill Atkinson. The pixel part of this is based on an existing icon included in HyperCard; I'm unsure of who the artist is. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A weird, alien-looking remnant of some decaying piece of infrastructure. The object, sticking up out of the ground, is rusty brown and unrecognizable but looks large. It is shaped roughly like a wrench-head. Some might see a face in profile, with an open mouth and jagged teeth. The object has pipes, dangling wires, and pieces that suggest they were once part of a grill. A small red warning triangle is applied to one of its surfaces. Next to it, a smaller pipe sticks up out of the ground with wires coming out of it. The sky is a bright yellow, with a hazy sun in the top right. In the background are vague brown shapes that could be trees or buildings. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A stiff figure in a suit tilts sideways, looking off-balance. Fixed to its head is a large, glowing white halo mounted on a small pole. Thin smoke rises from the halo. The halo is plugged into a wall outlet, and it is the shortness of the cable that is causing the figure to tilt. This is a dull green and periwinkle painting, with the figure rendered in dark shades of periwinkle. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A small rocket ship blasts into the sky. It is surrounded by an atmosphere of heavy, brown clouds. The rocket ship itself is small and brown, with a white jet of flame shooting out beneath it that gradually turns into yellow smoke. There is one blazing green portal window in the side, through which a cat can be seen. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

The large outlines of two windowless tenement buildings loom out of a foggy yellow sky. A rocket ship is bursting out of the wall on the left-side building, the wall flying apart in an explosion of white light and debris. The rocket continues into the sky, leaving a white trail behind it. A small glowing green portal on the side of the rocket chose a person sitting inside. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

An odd metal machine on two spindly legs. The machine is a collection of boxy metal compartments that looks a little like a construction vehicle with a few more boxes pilled on. It is a dark, tarnished, coppery green. Each compartment has a few yellow windows in it; one shows the driver, one has a passenger, and one shows a cat. A few have thin, uneven antennas sticking out of them. The sky is a deep red-orange. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A large box truck sits on a tarmac; only the rear is visible. The back of the truck is open, going by the eerie greenish light coming from it. The truck has an angled ramp and two satellite dishes on top. A figure is pushing a large box with a purple question mark on its side up the ramp into the truck. The sky is a dark purple. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A figure wearing a red-orange unibody suit and a space helmet rides a unicycle. The helmet is a sphere of glass, through which only the blurry silhouette of the figure's head is seen. The figure is slender with arms extended. In one hand, the figure holds a baton with a spherical yellow "angry" emoji. The background is bluish-green. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

Two figures stand on top of a rusty locomotive, dueling with crossed swords. The locomotive is crossing an arched bridge. The white beam of the locomotive's headlamp lights up the dark. The locomotive has bright red taillights. The sky is blue-purplish fading to pink, and filled with stars. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A robot figure the color of rusting iron stands upright, featuring a large round head and holes for eyes. The body is boxy, with only cylindrical stubs for arms and a tie that hangs from the neck area. The head is being partially lifted up by a figure that seems to be climbing out of the robots body. Above the head is a glowing white halo. The background is textured shades of blue and green. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A tall, angular church structure stands against a vivid orange sky, its windows glowing with a bluish light. The building features a central steeple with a dim clock face, topped with a crosslike rod, and a smaller gabled section beneath it with tall blue windows. A missile rises diagonally from the left, trailing yellow exhaust as it exits from a hatchway in the roof on the right. A hazy yellow sun sits in the orange sky. The painting is signed “Chris Silverman.”

A hill at sundown. The upper part of the sky is starry and dark blue, fading to a golden glow on the horizon, especially on the right side. Sitting on top of the hill is a classic Macintosh computer, the size of a building. Its screen is facing to the right, and appears to be mostly dark except for a single white dialogue box in the middle of the screen. It's not clear what the dialogue box says, but anyone who's used a Mac in the 80s or 90s will recognize this as the "it is now safe to switch off your Macintosh" message. While the computer is mostly in silhouette, the right edge is illuminated by the last rays of sunlight. On the left side, a small door is open at the base of the computer, revealing golden light from inside. A figure stands silhouetted in the doorway. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

The end of a concrete dock at night. The sky is a deep blue and filled with stars. A low layer of greenish mist covers the water. The dock is low and flat, with a few leaking pipes on the side. On the dock itself is a small, boxy shack with a large dish antenna mounted on the roof. The shack and antenna are lit on the right side by a pale source of light located offscreen; maybe the headlights of a parked but running car. On the left side of the shack, facing out to sea, is a glowing white light. At the very end of the dock, a figure stands, holding a glowing yellow lantern out over the water. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A small figure stands in a bright orange space. It is wearing a shiny purple space suit of some sort, its head encased in a perfectly spherical helmet with a circular faceplate on the front, like a diver's helmet. The faceplate glows a holographic green. The figure has one hand on its hip and the other out in front of it, and it is inspecting a small glowing green circle on its wrist, like someone checking a watch. On the front of the suit is a small pattern of four bright blue lines arranged in a diamond shape; possibly a control panel. Beyond the figure is a blaze of white and yellow light—not the sun, something else, perhaps a time portal that it has just stepped out of. The light reflects off the back of the figure, the reflection an iridescent greenish-blue like what you'd see on a beetle. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

Either early morning or late evening: most of the sky is still a dark, heavy blue. There is a slight bluish glow on the dark horizon. On a small hill is a large industrial complex: smoke stacks and piping, with a few glowing red and green lights. It appears to be unpopulated. Glowing green smoke comes from two of the stacks. In the foreground, the ground is a dark indigo. A dim road winds along the ground towards the viewer. Driving along the road is a small car, the headlights casting a yellow glow in front of it. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A tall, craggy, conical mountain rises out of the gloom of fog. The sky is a heavy, dark gray. Extending out of the mountain's left side is a long dock, jutting into space. The doorway casts white light along the dock. Above the dock, high in the air, is a small figure wearing what appears to be a jet pack. White flames are shooting out of the jet pack, leaving a trail of light gray smoke. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A short, rust-colored robot wanders through a reddish field under a yellow sky. The sun sits in the top right of the sky. The robot's head and torso are large and boxy, with thin pipe-like arms and legs. The robot's head has three googly eyes stuck to it. On the front of its torso are some knobs, dials, vents, and a rectangular exposed compartment with red wires in it. It is facing the viewer, holding up its left hand. Perched on its hand is a reddish bird with a green iridescent tinge to it. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A silvery flying saucer hovers in a clear blue sky, the sunlight glinting off it. On the underside is a glowing white opening from which a beam of light extends down. Directly under the saucer is a conical hill covered in green trees. In front of the hill is a small yellow diamond-shaped sign; the kind you'd see on any North American road. The sign has a black icon of a flying saucer on it that matches the saucer behind it perfectly. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

An uneven brown desert surface sits under a reddish-orange Martian sky. A small brown Mars lander sits on the surface. The lander has three feet, a large parabolic dish aimed at the sky, and a smaller blue solar panel. Two large googly eyes are stuck on the side of the Mars lander. There is a ventilation slot on the side of the lander as well. The eyes are oriented up and to the left.

A person in a top hat strides purposefully along, a gigantic metal wheel under their feet. The wheel is as tall as they are. They look like they are balanced on top of the wheel like a circus performer. The wheel looks like some sort of industrial component: five spokes, with a slight rusty tinge to it. It's traveling pretty fast, in the air slightly above the ground, kicking up bits of gravel. The ground around it is barren and rocky. On the horizon are blurry suggestions of trees. The person above is holding a gentleman's cane and an umbrella. Above, the sun hangs in the sky. This is a primarily grayscale painting. It is signed "Chris Silverman".

An object streaks through space, wrapped in greenish-blue fire. The object is vaguely spherical and looks like a space rock with the tail of a comet. However, it also looks like the front of a bus: green windows, orange running lights, white headlights, people visible inside, and a sign above the windshield with green letters that read "M1 via 5 Av". Stars are visible in the black sky.

A small, orange, bullet-shaped rocket ship with two orange fins at the lower end and two round, bluish portals on its side. There is a yellow stripe across each fin, and another yellow stripe across the tip of the rocket. The tip of the rocket also has a glowing red light, with a green light on the left fin and a bluish light on the right fin. The ship is streaking upwards through black, starry space, leaving a trail of glowing greenish fire.

A bright orange vehicle with three legs. The vehicle looks like what you'd get if you put a helmet from a hazardous waste outfit on top of three human legs. The visor of the helmet is the windshield. Sitting behind the windshield is the shadowy silhouette of the driver. The vehicle has another smaller round window, revealing a small potted tree wrapped in white holiday lights. The vehicle is in a dark area, and has a single white headlight casting a beam of light. Sitting behind the rearmost leg of the vehicle is a black cat with glowing green eyes.

A dark concrete room, lit only by a bright orange torch on the left side of the wall. In the center, dominating the room, is a tall black cabinet that looks like a server rack, filled with complex machines and red and green lights. At the bottom of the cabinet, a small door is open. Snaking out from the door is a large black arm with clawed fingers.

A figure with a large, bulbously awkward body and two thin legs makes its way across a bridge. The figure is carrying two suitcases. It does not have a head, and a large arched window in its body reveals a person sitting inside, as though it is a vehicle. Attached to the top of it is a flashlight-like lamp. In front of it is a glowing streetlight. The sky is reddish yellow, and the red light of dawn or dusk reflects off the figure and the bridge.

A small concrete building in the middle of a grassy meadow. It is either dawn or dusk. The sky is pink, still with stars visible, and the horizon blazes with yellow. The grass is lavender. The building has a large dish antenna sticking off of the roof, and a few other smaller antennas. A doorway and a small window are visible. Both glow with greenish light. The door is ajar. There is a sign to the right of the door, with a triangular warning symbol on it, and indecipherable text below. A person is running away from the building.

A small, grass-covered chunk of earth hovers in the air, like a tiny island in the vast blue sky. Sitting on top of the chunk of earth is a boxy, dark blue robot, its back to the viewer. The robot is holding onto a large red balloon, which might be keeping the island aloft. A few birds are in the distance.

A foggy gray woodland. Floating over it is a dark navy-blue metal sphere with several round glowing openings. Two are green, and one is red. Projecting from below the sphere is a long thornlike rod with radio dishes and antennas sticking off of it. A single bird flies over the trees.

A small shack at night, under a starry sky. The shack has a roof sloping down to the right, and a single door with no windows. On the door is what appears to be a warning sign, although what it's warning against isn't legible. There is a green glow under the door. Directly to the left of the shack is a giant test tube, taller than the shack, with a glowing greenish substance in it. Glowing green pipes connect the test tube to the shack. Rising from the test tube is a faint column of smoke.

A tall, rusty contraption stands in the middle of a bright green field under a cloudless blue sky. The purpose of the contraption is unclear; it looks vaguely robotic, with two dilapidated legs and a boxy body with various protrusions and openings. A rust-colored cat is looking out of the largest opening, a circular window that looks like a pipe may have plugged into it. On top of the body is a rusty dome with another round hole in it. Protruding from the front of the contraption is a long metal pipe from which hangs a rusty mailbox. Whatever this machine once did, it sure isn't doing it now.

The sea floor. Sticking up from it is a large rock. The rock has a glowing red opening that looks like an entry to the interior of the earth. Hovering above the sea floor, directly in front of the red opening, is a small spherical submersible with a large dorsal fin and a small camera on a robot arm. A person can be seen through a round yellow porthole on the side. In the distance swims a school of small iridescent green fish.

The old factory room was dark. Too dark for my liking. Heavy beams and wires dominated the ceiling. The mottled gray concrete walls were covered in dust and grime. Some unnamable object—a large metal cylinder with rusty pipes emerging from it—squatted to my right, in the darkest corner of the room. I trained the blinding white flashlight beam on the dirty wall and started in horror, even though I knew in my bones what I would find: that damned mark. The crude red circle, the smile, an O and X for the eyes, the dripping paint. He had been here, sure enough. He was out there. And tonight, I was sure, another dirty wall somewhere would bear his mark.
