A tree stands next to a house. The house is a simple, blue, rectangular shape, occupying the lower left quarter of the drawing. The tree is a tall, leafless trunk with sticks for branches; it might be dead. Sitting in the hot yellow sky, positioned in the fork created by two diverging branches, sits a blazing red sun. This is the sun of desert at high noon. The window in the house is dark. Placed inside it is a single candle. The style of the piece looks impressionist: bright colors, lots of strokes.
