A small raft sits in the middle of a large body of water. The sky and the water are a bright sunny mix of red and yellow; it's not clear where the sky ends and the water begins. There is a suggestion of fog. Dominating the scene is a vast black pirate flag—a ragged, grinning skull and crossbones, hoisted on an extremely unstable-looking flagpole that is cobbled together from smaller pieces of wood. The pole leans rightward at a slight angle. Standing on the raft to the left of the flag is a much smaller figure that looks like it is wearing a suit. It is raising its right hand and brandishing a pirate sword. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A scene at night. A ramshackle construction sits on a beach: a small shack, with another shack raised on stilts, fused into one corner of the first one. Both have windows, but the window in the ground-floor shack is lit. A television aerial is planted on the roof of the second shack. Flying over both of them is a large pirate flag, fixed to a pole emerging from roof of the ground-floor shack. This is a slightly different design of a pirate flag, though: instead of a skull, there's a smiley-face. The moon sits right above the horizon, reflecting on the ocean, either rising or setting. The drawing is rendered in black ink; the lit window is yellow; the moon is a pale white, and the rest of the scene is dark blue.
