A large black, furry creature. The creature's facial features—two eyes, and a smiling mouth—is comprised of three curves. Each curve is a sixty-degree section of a circle. The curves are arranged symmetrically, in a circle, with two placed side by side and one in the middle below them. Basically I'm describing the symbol for nuclear radiation. The creature's face looks like that symbol. The creature is holding a glowing green cylinder to its chest, hugging it the way one might hold something warm.

Two people sit before a campfire at night, facing each other. The person on the left has an arm raised, as though they're telling a story. Looming behind them like a huge shadow is a great black cloud with the radioactive trefoil on it, warped and distorted, like the face of a monster formed by smoke. Part of the cloud rises up from the head of the person on the right, as though it's a speech balloon; something they're describing. There are dark things out there on the desert—and under it.

A blazing phosphor-green light in the center of a dark chamber casts three rays that resemble a radioactive trefoil. Standing in front of it, seen from the back, are two robed, hooded figures that seem to be staring at it. A third robed figure stands to the right, partially turned, face visible in profile. This person is heavily bearded, face glowing pale white in the glow of the light. On the wall of the room are visible two symbols: an arrow pointing down, and a stenciled radioactive symbol. No one knows quite what they signify, but the Wasteland Elders speak of demons in the earth, and the wise do not question them.

A vast, flat, desert floor. Rising up from it are huge blocks the size of an apartment building, but they have no windows or doors. They're not arranged in a city grid, or connected by streets; they're placed at random places, in a sort of staggered pattern. One is nearest the viewer, one is a little ways away, and one is barely a ghost in the distance. The sun sits in a partly cloudy sky, at what looks like late afternoon; the buildings cast long shadows. Walking between the buildings, across the desert, is a very small figure, alone, also casting a long shadow. Above, the only other living thing is a large bird circling in the dry heat of the far desert.
