A dim room: not light, but not quite dark. Like a space during the day where the lights are off. On the right side of the drawing is a doorway through which white light is streaming. A blurry figure stands in the doorway, indistinct in the blazing light. Directly in front of the doorway, inside the room, is a perfectly round hole in the floor, like a manhole with the cover left off. A ladder leads down into the darkness of the hole.

A deep pit, dug into the ground. We are seeing a cross-section of the earth: gray-black soil with a tall pit the size of a multi-story building extending down into it. Scattered throughout the soil are many rocks and pebbles, with a few bones. At the top of the pit are several mounds of soil. At the bottom of the pit, standing on a large mound of soil, is a small figure wearing an orange hat and an orange shirt. The figure continues to dig, seemingly trapped in this towering hole from which there is no escape. Also buried in the ground, a few feet away from the figure but not yet unearthed, is a large yellow smiley-face. Above the pit, at ground level, the sky is blue with a few white clouds.
