A dim, heavy evening, the air purple with fog and clouds. In the background is the large blurry suggestion of a mountain or perhaps a building. On the right side of the painting, an eerie building. The architecture, from what we can see of it, is indeterminate: an alien blend of brutalist and Gothic. There is a vast yawning mouth of a door with a few round windows above it, suggesting an enormous fish with its mouth open. Red light glows from the interior, spilling out onto the grass in front of it. To the left, approaching the doorway, is a figure riding a hobby horse, as one does not simply walk into Mordor.
